As we near the holidays, I wanted to share one of my visits to the Czech Republic where I got to spend Christmas in Kutna Hora. This was one of my return visits and it was a very pleasant trip. I had not spent the holidays in a cold climate in many years and, well, this did not disappoint. I got to see snow for the first time in over twenty years and I actually enjoyed the brisk (OK, cold) air. I got to help a friend decorate her house for the holidays and experience what it was like to celebrate in a foreign country. I had a great time and want to share some of that with you.
Prague Holiday Market
Of course, being so close to Prague, I took a day to go and visit the holiday market there. It was a lot of fun to see all the vendors and browse through their items. It was cold (about 25 degrees Fahrenheit) so coffee shops were a welcomed site!
Since the market is in the main square, you can’t visit without getting to spend some time enjoying the astronomical clock!
Christmas in Kutna Hora
Back in Kutna Hora, the town was lit up and festivities were on-going.
The shops and churches were all set up and ready for Christmas too.
The best part, however, was helping decorate my friend’s home and celebrating Christmas there.
It was a wonderful Christmas. With that in mind, I want to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas!
